The Quartier Latin is located in the fifth and sixth arrondissement of Paris. Its boundaries begin at Saint-Germain des Pres and finishing at the Luxembourg Gardens. It is on the left bank of the Seine and is under the influence of the Sorbonne. Since the thirteenth century, the Latin Quarter is the stronghold of the university and schools in Paris. It is in the Latin Quarter that we can found the most of historic monuments and museums together in one place, as the Museum of the Arab world, the Cluny Museum, the National Museum of Natural History, the Botanical Garden, the Pantheon (on Mount Sainte Genevieve), the Place des Grands Hommes (indeed, this is where all the great French thinkers like Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Voltaire and Malraux are buried), the Fontaine de Medicis and the Jardin du Luxembourg with its magnificent parks adorned with lovely statues.
