Set in the triangle formed by the Hotel de Ville, Place de la Bastille and Place de la Republique, the Marais is the heart of the historic Paris. The Marais consists primarily by the 3rd and 4th districts (arrondissements) of Paris, it is bounded by the Rue Beaubourg in the west, the Rue Bretagne to the north, Boulevard Beaumaurchais and Place de la Bastille in the east and finally the Seine river to the south.

Fashionable district of the French capital, it is the haunt of Parisian bobos. The truly festive and relaxed atmosphere of this area will delight you. Daytime and evening, the Marais is constantly crowded, there's always something to make it, a walk, go shopping or enjoy the spectacle of the street, sitting on a terrace. In the evening it is the "gay Paris" which unveils its incomparable atmosphere in its trendy bars and restaurants. Invested many years in the gay community, the Marais is a bustling neighborhood including weekends.

With its narrow streets and its renowned mansions, the Marais is a district of Paris, which has preserved over time a picturesque charm. This place has some famous monuments in particular the Carnavalet Museum, devoted to the history of Paris from prehistoric times until today, the Picasso Museum, the Place des Vosges and the Maison de Victor Hugo, where the latter wrote his greatest tragedies, Mary Tudor and Ruy Blas among others.

One of the most characteristic parts of the Marais remains the old Jewish quarter in the rue des Rosiers where the best falafel of the city, delicious sandwiches, mingle with kosher establishments and boutiques.
