The Bastille

The Bastille
Districts - The Bastille
The current location of the Bastille was made famous thanks to the revolutionaries who wanted to end the tyranny and despotism of Louis XVI, they attended the "taking of the Bastille" in 1789. Historically, the place is a place of rendezvous and assembly. Parades, demonstrations and events, they all pass through the Bastille! A major renovation program in the 80s with the construction of the Opera Bastille "relaunched" the neighborhood, in addition to being popular and lively, it has become trendy.

Today, the Bastille district is especially appreciated for its relaxed atmosphere and music. A quick tour of the adjacent streets and you'll want to stop in one of those bars where the music escapes, you are spoiled for choice! Indeed, bars and restaurants of all types mingle in a lively atmosphere. Between classical opera (Opera Bastille) and Latino, jazz, pop or rock, you have just to make your choice!

Day or night, the best area to go out for a drink, dance and socialize is undoubtedly the Bastille district. The Rue de la Roquette and the Rue de Lappe concentrate a great number of places (L'An Vert du Décor, Objectif Lune, La Chapelle des Lombards) or a little further, the Wax, the SanZ SanS, OPA, le Cafe de l'Industrie, le Reservoir ou le Pause Cafe to name a few. The Rue Oberkampf and the Rue Saint Maur are also major night highlights with the unmistakable Parisian Cafe Charbon, the New Casino and just behind the Mecano Bar, the Cithea Nova or L'Alimentation Generale.

In the evening, DJ's take possession of bars, like the WUB, rue Daval, with techno musics. Around 21h30 at 53 of the rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine, echoes, jazz, funky or house musics, it is "La Fabrique". You can eat something or drink a beer, house specialty. Across the street, the "Factory Cafe" brings a wider audience of rap and groove.

The district is more than ever recorded in the era of time. All music are present. Even classic lovers are met through the Opera Bastille.

Under the spotlight by his ceaseless activity and its growing euphoria, the Place de la Bastille should not overshadow its neighbor. The Port de l'Arsenal, rather quiet, remains a compelling place to forget the stress. The whole atmosphere of the romantic Paris of the fifties and sixties can be found around the moored barges. The Bastille area offers a wild nightlife and certainly offers the widest choice of bars and nightclubs of Paris.
